Kristof vs . Bambi
The purpose of " For Environmental Balance, Grab a Rifle” by Nicholas D. Kristof is to advise the reader that deer happen to be causing loss of life and damage all across America and to convince the reader to think the only way to end this is to hunt deer. Kristof starts the article by grabbing our interest proving deer are over populated, destroying the environment, and killing Americans in car crashes yearly. He then leads us to his thesis " A few bring back hunting. ” Kristof notes that these days a large number of people perspective hunting while cruel and brutal and they are opting for additional methods for deer control now due to their compassion for deer. He feels methods just like birth control can be a waste of time and money and if something would not change quickly it is only gonna get worse. Kristof also proves in his dissertation that there is a significant fall of hunting stating, " For every hundred hunters who also die or perhaps stop hunting, only sixty-nine hunters have their place” (pg. 183).
