The Audio-Lingual way of teaching English skills had its origins during World War II in order to became known as the Army technique. It was designed as a reaction to the grammar-translation method of educating foreign different languages. Grammar-translation have been used to train for thousands of years, however the method was perceived as currently taking too long intended for learners in order to speak inside the target terminology. The Audio-Lingual method attempted to achieve speedy communicative competence through innovative methods.
